An archaeology professor at Boston University with a divine heritage, especially connections to Gaea and Apollo, Danelos Fairmont possesses the sword Thyroros, the PortalBearer, that contains the Eye of Gaea, a gem that allows the bearer to use Boundless Vision to open a portal into any place he has been. Bound to an ancient prophecy, he wears an Earthsteel manacle etched with ancient Olympian symbols on his left wrist. During battle, an invisible shield appears if he uses that wrist to block an attack. Taking the codename AEGIS for Task Force: Gaea, he is the lynch-pin of the group, and the only one with ties to Olympos. He has ten times the strength of an average person, accelerated healing, and training in battle skill by the goddess Athene, making him a superior hand-to-hand combatant.
Thyroros (θυρωρός), the PortalBearer and a Sword
of Gaea. By allowing light to pass through the blue gemstone in the sword's
pommel, Danelos can activate the Boundless Vision which allows
him to cut a portal into any location he has been to before. Forged from Earthsteel
by Gaea herself as the first weapon ever, the blade can cut through even solid
marble without the least hesitation. It 'remembers' each of its encounters,
channeling those memories into its bearer.
A zoologist at Northeastern University, Brandon Jeffries possesses the amulet Ophthalmos Ouranou, the Eye of Ouranos, that allows him to channel the powers of Zodiac. Heavily tied to making the Earth a better place, he would sometimes prefer to care for animals more than people. Although he doesn't know it, he is tied to an ancient culture, one which allowed him to be part of the prophecy that involved righting a heinous wrong against all of creation. He's not a follower of any trend or fad, and he prefers the more casual side of life, noted especially in his clothing: T-shirt, khaki pants, and hiking boots. Using the name ZODIAK as part of Task Force: Gaea, Brandon has the ability to draw on the mystical energies from the twelve signs embossed on the amulet. Having only drawn upon the physical abilities of these constellations, he doesn't know that his strongest attribute comes from Virgo, the Virgin--the pure spirit that binds the other eleven to his soul. It is his honesty to himself that allows him to keep this responsibility.
The Ophthalmos Ouranou (Οφθαλμός Ουρανού),
the Eye of Ouranos allows Brandon to tap into the inherent powers of the signs
of the Zodiac. In some cases, he may physically transform into that entity
(i.e. he can become a centaur when he channels Sagittarius).
Her ancestry from an ancient race, Sarah Bishop possesses Aether, a ring that once belonged to an ancient king of a powerful land, that allows her to control the tetrastoicheia, or Four Elements: earth, air, fire, and water. A potter by trade, she understands the intricate relationship of these four aspects of Gaea, and has always had a strong connected to the Earth Mother. Having grown up Wiccan, she has embraced nature as a force all its own, allowing her to understand the Olympian gods' role in her life. She cares deeply for her friends, Danelos, Aleta, and Brandon, taking the responsibility of AETHER, her role in Task Force: Gaea seriously. Although she is street savvy, having grown up in Boston, she can sometimes be a little naive when it comes to her understanding of the prophecy she has sworn to fulfill.
The ring, called Aether (Αιθήρ), once
belonging to an Atlantean king, allows Sarah to control, not create, the Four
Elements--Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. Only a descendant of Atlantean heritage
can use the ring, and if the bearer must be touching the earth for it to work.
Atlanteans descend from the Protogenos, Aether, the primordial
"upper air" where the gods existed.
Dr. Aleta Halston, an expert in genetics, had her life changed radically when an experiment took a dangerous turn, binding her DNA with that of a rare white eagle. A descendant of an ancient race, Aleta received Nephoskizetes, the Cloudsplitter, a javelin of silver Earthsteel that allows her to channel Zeus' lightning. With her white wings and in possession of the Olympian king's greatest weapon, she took the codename AETOS TALON (as of Memory's Curse) for Task Force: Gaea. Perhaps the most headstrong of the group, Aleta uses humor and sarcasm to diffuse situations, but always likes to be in control of herself.
Named Nephoskizetes 'Cloud-splitter', the javelin was a gift to Aleta from a powerful, ancient race. The javelin has the power to channel Zeus' lightning to the Eklektos, or Chosen One.
